| Outline and Purpose of the Course | 【授業のテーマ】 このバイリンガルな授業では、京都学派（西谷、田邊、和辻、森昭）の思想を「否定的教育学」として読み解く可能性を様々な角度から参加者とともに検討する。京都学派の様々な「二重否定の自覚」の哲学があるが、西谷の自力的な自覚、田邊の他力的な自覚、和辻の間柄的自覚の概要を確認してから、森昭の「教育的」あるいは「人間生成的」自覚を詳細に解読する。 This bilingual class will attempt to examine the Kyoto School of Philosophy (particularly Nishitani, Tanabe, Watsuji, and Mori Akira) as "negative pedagogy." The Kyoto School has various philosophies of "self-awareness via double-negation." Nishitani's is based on self-power, Tanabe's on other-power, and Watsuji's on relationality. After briefly surveying these, we will examine Mori Akira's "educational/anthropogenic" view of self-awareness in detail. 【授業の概略と目的】 この授業の概略と目的は以下の通りである。 The class' summary and objectives are as follows: １．京都学派における「否定」と「自覚」の概念を検討する。 To consider the ideas of "negation" and "self-awareness" in the Kyoto School of Philosophy. ２．「教育における否定的自覚」が可能か、もし可能ならどのように促進できるかを、森昭『教育理想の哲学的探求』を講読しながら考察する。 To consider the possibility of "negative self-awareness in education" and how it might be supported pedagogically, through a careful analysis of Mori Akira's Philosophical Inquiry into Educational Ideals. ３．以上の諸概念と可能性が、学生自身の研究にどのように生産的に連関可能か、一緒に考える。 To think about how these ideas might be of use in the research of students in attendance. |

| Preparation and Review | ＊授業前に、上に掲げた文献を出来るだけ読み込んでおくこと。 Read the readings before coming to class. ＊クラス発表の時、参加者の自分の研究との関連も発表していただく。目下各自が抱えている課題（より具体的には、修士論文、博士論文、投稿論文など）についてある程度まとまった発表ができるように準備しておくこと。 During your class presentation, you will be expected to discuss negative pedagogy connects to your own research. Please be prepared to talk about your research. |
