Outline and Purpose of the Course | In this class, we will read I. Turgenev's novel "Asya" in Russian for those students who have already learned Russian grammar. In general, Turgenev's style is classical and standard, which makes his prose suitable for confirmation of a grammar lesson and the vocabulary of Russian. With it, we will train students in translating from Russian into the appropriate Japanese. Also, we will analyze the literary work and gain a deeper knowledge of the background of the times. |
Course Goals | 1) Acquire linguistic ability, method, and knowledge to read and understand Russian literature. 2) Acquire the skills necessary to translate text from Russian literature into Japanese. |
Schedule and Contents | 1st Guidance: Introduction of the work 2nd-15th Reading and analyzing texts |
Grading Policy | 80% participation in class, 20% term paper. |
